I'm not posting a link to the news, but this exercise in mediocrity, tonal cluelessness, producers deciding smoking = edgy (and pretty much leaving it at that), and saying instead of showing has been officially cancelled by NBC.
Perhaps Guillermo Del Toro and his mystery writing partner *crossing fingers to the point of breaking them that it's not David Goyer* will finally do the character some proper live action justice, assuming that he actually gets a green light from Warner Bros for "Dark Universe" or whatever the hell it's called right now, and that he makes this one a priority (seriously, the guy has like twenty movies planned).
