We went to see A Bug's Life when we were still dating, so it has a soft spot in my heart.

Well, that's great. I'm sure the music by Randy Newman was a bit special too ;) I don't know that movie Green & Gold but I know Fathom Events. They specialize in unique events for the theaters including musicals & operas and sports. They also bring back movies of years past for extremely limited times. Several years ago, they had a special for the 80th Anniversary of Batman. The special they played was the Quadrilogy of 89 - 97 :batwink: It's a shame I didn't have a chance to experience this but I'm grateful that I did when they originally came out :)

Well that's good. I'd like to know other's experiences because I've already expressed Mine a while back. I would have loved to see the 66 movie at the show, that would have been really cool :batwink:

So, off & on I'm going to talk & spotlight what I seen in the movies for My Birthday week. I know I spotlighted Bloodsport before, but I just love it and there was so much more to talk about than what I did so I'm going to some trivia bits here & there.

Image

First that comes to mind is Michel Qissi. I've spoke & talked about him before that he & brother are best friends of JVCD which you'll see more of in time. So, he played Suan Paredes who was good in the Kumite but was no match for Chong Li.

Now, you may not know this but this Moroccan-Belgian fighter was transformed into the lunatic fighter known as Tong Po in 1989's Kickboxer as well as the sequel :o :batshock: :wwshock: :smgasp:

I hope you liked that. More to come later plus more movies ;)

I've heard of the Kickboxer films but never saw any of them.

I never knew nor saw the Strange Bew from 1983. That looked different.

Seeing them movies, you'd be surprised who's in them and so forth. Here's this good Cynthia Rothrock movie also starring Stacey Kech from 1993 called Irresistible Force

Image

Also, it stars Christopher Neame from License to Kill, Ghostbusters II, Suburban Commando & Chuck Norris' Hellbound as well as Star Wars Dark Forces II

Since there was no new posts, look back at the great movie I posted with Cynthia Rothrock, Stacey Keach & Christopher Neame :)

So...

Image

That's right, it's Groundhog Day...already...again

Image

I have posted a lot of Groundhog Day on the board over the years and yes, it does seem like a I just talked about it and I did a year ago which seemed really short. I've always loved this day, to Me, it's still part of the Holidays :scsm: :scww: Now, there's a few things about Groundhog Day that I haven't done yet and one is that I never actually spotlighted movie. So, before I begin, play this great Cue by George Fenton which is the iconic theme of the movie and make sure you have it on loop until you get to the trailer and no, that's not a Déjà vu pun there

Now, a couple years ago for the movie's 30th Anniversary of 1993, I made a very special showcase in My all-crucial Odds & Ends. Here's just one pic of an example of it :)

Image

If you never seen that before for whatever reason, you'll read My special memories of the great time I had when I first seen it at the AMC Theater in Crestwood and you can see the whole thing in it's entirety here --->

http://www.dctoyrevolution.org/general-toy-discussions/my-odds-ends-insane-keychain-t1176-80.html

So, here's the iconic movie poster.

Image

The movie is done fairly well in authenticity of the location of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and the unveiling of Phil the Groundhog is really good.

Image
Image

Of course it stars Bill Murray in one of the his best roles as Phil the Weatherman :)

Image

His co-star is Andy McDowell. She is his Producer & love interest. She looks pretty good.

Image

Brian Doyale-Murray (Christmas Vacation) who is Bill's real life brother plays the Top Hat head of the The Inner Circle that part of the climax of the festival.

Image

Stephen Tobolowsky (Spaceballs) plays Ned, an old high school classmate of Phil.

Image

Chris Elliott is his cameraman and Marita Geraghty plays a woman caught in Phil's debacle.

Image

Rick Overton (Willow & Blind Fury) and Rick Ducommun (Spaceballs, Little Monsters & The Burbs) are funny friends that join Phil during his crisis. I love the the bowling Alley scene :)

Image

David Pasquesi plays Phil's psychiatrist.

Image

Now, the biggest surprise of them all was by the late great Harold Ramis who was the director of the movie. He casted his fellow Ghostbuster and their seen together here. When I first saw this at the show in 93 I was like wow, this is so cool :)

Image

Here's this special picture I made a while back, check it out :)

Image

Here's the iconic trailer.

Here's Phil's first day reliving Groundhog Day. Listed to the creepy little tune by George Fenton in the background, I was like, gosh, this reminds Me of Beetljuice :blbat:

Now, here was a really cool surprise for Me. A very young Michael Shannon & his woman is given tickets to...Wrestlmania  I was like wow, I can't wait for WM 93 and it was such a great one too ;)

Now, here's the iconic Weatherman Song by Delbert McClinton. It's so nice :)

Wait until My spotlight, there was another movie that was similar like Groundhog day that also came out in 1993 :o :batshock: :wwshock: :smgasp: That's it for now have a happy & safe...

It's a terrific movie. They don't make comedies like they did back then. Maybe they'll make a comeback.

No they don't. I said before that Groundhog Day was one the last great & funny comedies. We'll see, there is potential with stuff now since big boobed women in wresting showing cleavage, retro 80s & 90s movies & games and so on. I'm glad of it.

Wow, I never seen that before  That loos like a comeback for Lucha Underground in an alternate reality :o How about that, Y2 is in it :batwink: I gotta see that :) Now that is hardcore wresting :!:

So, there's actually many movies that has a time-loop premise & plot to it over the years. I may spotlight them in time. Right now I want to stick with this one because it came out only a few short months after Groundhog Day in the good yet important year of 1993. This movie is called 12:01 :!:

Image

Now, I find this very, VERY Interesting. The film is actually an adaptation of Richard Lupoff’s short story of the title 12.01 pm...

Image

in which was itself then adapted for the 1990 TV movie 12.01pm that starred Kurtwood Smith, 35 years ago this year :!:

Image

So, with that being said, perhaps, then, Groundhog Day actually ripped off 12.01 :? :?:  As I say, always look back, it's all the past :batwink: I couldn't find a Trailer but somebody uploaded the very short movie that's only 27 minutes long on YT :o Watch this when you get the time and/or after yo read this whole post. Look and see the Movie Channel Logo which is Showtime. In fact, the movie originally aired on Showed back then in 1990 :o

Now, for the remake that came out in 1993. It stars Jonathan Silverman & Helen Slater. Yes, that's 1984's Supergirl

Image

It also stars Jermey Piven...

Image

as well as Martin Landau.

Image

So, the story goes. A scientist is reliving the same day over & over again when the clock strikes 12:01 due to a Particle Accelerator. This machine plot has been in many movies that has to do with time. Even in Video Games. A long while back, I showcased My Out of this World/Another World & Heart of the Alien Games that has a similar situation. It all concerns CERN. If you don't know what that is then I seriously recommend that you do your research :!: Here's the movie trailer :)

More later ;)

There are quite a few but I'm unfamiliar with that one.
