I really appreciate what they've done with the characters now that I've had a time to think on it. They've stripped them bare of all the things that we took for granted and yet were essential to defining the Justice League as much more than what we see on the surface and it makes the introduction of these aspects much more important and as a result, it gives me a much greater appreciation for how many different layers of personality they each have.
When the twins created the JL3K from stories and data archives, the Justice League they came up with is basically one with only some of the most obvious, typical and stereotypical characteristics that the average person would come up with when asked what they know about the individual league members. When I look at it that way, I actually appreciate the genius of this book and how it makes me appreciate the little things that helped define these characters for me and what made me like them. They begin with all the familiar characteristics of the old league but
none of the small things. I feel like this was definitely written with a pre-New 52 fan in mind and unfortunately issue #1 doesn't quite get that across but as you delve deeper into it, you begin to understand what they're trying to do.
I'm definitely looking forward to finally reading issue #10.
