Ever since they released the Legion 12 pack I had high hopes that they would release more Legion members. The sub would be perfect for Mon-El, Dawnstar, Shadow Lass, etc...right? Right? Buehler?...Buehler?...no more sub, no more chances..time to customize. I started with a Blue Devil and swapped out the arms and legs with a DCUC Spectre. I wanted a John Stewart head, but then I got impatient and used Blue Devil. I cut off the horns and did my best to honor his fro. I found a chain in the jewelry section of the hobby store and sculpted the belt and details with Milliput. Painted with acrylics, let me know what you think.

Wandjina was a member of the Assemblers, aka the Champions of Angor. The Assemblers were a take on Marvel's Avengers and appeared in the Justice League of America comic in the early 70's. Giffen brought them back during his run on the Justice League book in the 80's.
I used a Hasbro Doc Samson. When I removed his hair I found the head underneath to be unacceptably narrow. I added to the dimension of his head with Milliput and sculpted the ears. The details on his torso as well as his bracelets were also sculpted. The axe was sculpted with Aves over a smaller axe I found in the fodder box. I made the aesthetic decision to go off model by giving him pants. Axe-wielding demi-gods deserve pants. The fur on the cape is from a DCUC Creeper.
I feel committed to the rest of the team now. Any suggestions on a good recipe for the Silver Sorceress? Should Blue Jay be done in 3 inch scale? Let me know what you think.

Re: HectorHall Kanjar Ro and Invisible Destroyer added!

Postby HectorHall » Sun Aug 17, 2014 5:04 pm

I started out with a DCUC Mercury, but I wanted Kanjar Ro a little shorter. I cut a 1/4 inch out of the calves and reattached by drilling, pegging and gluing them back together. I did a lot of prep dremeling and milliput filling before I did the eyes, helmet, shoulders, wrists, belt, and boots in Milliput. The visor was cut from a Tupperware dish and the Gamma Gong was fashioned from a Blue Devil trident. Painted with Acrylics. I am still contemplating a drybrush with a lighter shade of pink over the magenta I used for his skin.

Let me know what you think

The Invisible Destroyer was a classic Green Lantern villain that appeared early in Hal's Silver Age career. I had a headless Indigo Atom, seemed like the perfect fodder for this guy. The arms are from a Doctor Impossible. I sculpted the helmet onto a Doctor Midnight head that I had coated with Petroleum Jelly. When the helmet had set up, I slipped it off the head. The cape is fashioned from Denim. the helmet is attached with packaging wire and hot glue. Painted with acrylics.

Let me know what you think.
