Marvel Now! Captain America

Marvel Now! Captain America

I love the sculpt of the new Marvel Now! Captain America, but there are a few things that I was disappointed in. One I really wish that he could have been a little bigger about the same height as the Commander Steve Rogers figure, and two I wish he had a some more paint to bring out all that great sculpting detail. The first I can't really do anything about, but I can fix the second gripe on my figure.

First I started on the blues of his costume. There are three different shades I started with Model Masters Dark Blue, then I dry brushed MM french blue over that, and finally I dry brushed a custom mixed some light blue (French Blue & White). Then I sealed it with a top coat and then a dullcoat, but went back over the armor with a semi-gloss. For the gloves I mixed up some darker red for the base coat, and then I dry brushed a lighter red over the base. For the white on the arms I started with a really light blue and brushed several coats of white over them. I also repainted the face as I thought the flesh tone was a little too pink on the factory figure. I also added a little dark blue to the creases on the helmet, and added a coat of semigloss to the helmet as well. Let me know what you think :)

I like what you've done, but for my taste I don't like the grey in the costume not a big fan of the "Ultimate" look... I might paint the grey on the torso blue and the neck as well I don't like the helmet look, makes him look "special" hehe but you did an awesome job as usual.

Marvel Now! Captain America V2

Postby 1987olds442 » Wed Apr 02, 2014 3:26 pm

Hey everyone,
It's been a little while since I've had a chance to post anything. the past month hasn't been to best for myself and my family. My father had been battling cancer for the past few years, and he took a turn for the worst last month, and passed away on the 22nd of March. Right now I'm just trying to get back in my old routine, which most of you can imagine is pretty tough. So I thought I would share this commissioned piece for fellow fwoosher SpiderBat that I finished before going down to spend the month with my father. I'm just lucky that I have a great boss that let me work remotely from there to be there with him. This custom ended up being a nice figure to share since Captain America was my Dad's favorite comic when he was a little boy.

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that, olds. That's tough and I can definitely relate. On a positive note, that's an amazing looking Marvel Now! Captain America. I love the wash you gave him, it really makes the details pop out at you!
