Well, I'm in no hurry about it. Their is always shoving these new people in our face that makes them such idols and it makes the older better actors like their nothing

That was touching by Jennifer Tilly, I've always liked her and thought she was so stunning :batwink:

Image

91's The Doors was something else, Val Kilmer sure did great there. Before he was Morrison the rock-star & and in Top Gun...he was TOP SECRET :!:

Image

This came out in 1984, was by the same guys that made Police Squad & The Naked Gun movies and was Val Kilmer's FIRST movie, its really crazy :o

Man, he looks so young. I never seen Top Secret, though. Speaking of the 80s...what new fresh hell is this?

That looks insane and I'm leaning toward not in a good way. At least it's sequel, I'll give it that :!:

He sure did look young. So, here's Val Kilmer's second movie. We talked about Real Genius before but there's a bit that we didn't.

Image

It came out in 1985 so this year is celebrating it's 40th Anniversary as I type this  Of course it stars a young Kilmer.

Image

Also stars an always rough & rugged Ed Laughter.

Image

Ghostbusters' William Atherton. He was Walter Peck in GB, I find it strange that he is here with Kilmer, in Willow, Kilmer kept on calling Willow Peck, Peck, Peck

Image

Also in the movie is Jon Gries, The awesome Wolfman in The Monster Squad.. Weird I talked about him in Get Shorty just recently :?

Image

Also, Dean Devlin appears...

Image

if your you thinking is he...then YES, he is THE SAME Dean Devin who was writing & producer partners with Roland Emmercich for years :o

Image

Here's the Trailer :!:

Here's these two great Cues by Thomas Newman of the Newman Family. His work really made this movie shine :)

Yeah, my initial feelings were pretty negative as soon as I saw the blood splatter. The Naked Gun films and TV were always goofy slapstick stuff, there was no blood. I'm not the biggest Seth MacFarlane fan either, so that doesn't bode well for it either. It'd be like someone trying to reboot a Mel Brooks movie or another Airplane! I guess it's wait and see more. Probably not something I will pay to see, though.

I actually never seen Silent Movie. Nope, I'm not a big fan of Seth MacFarlane. Yeah, there was no blood in the Naked Gun movies yes so much chaos happen. We'll see but I'm in no hurry about it. Val Kilmer is known to be in westerns. Here's his TV movie from 1989 titled Billy the Kid :)

Image

I got a lot of Val Kilmer movies to come in time :)

Yep. Val Kilmer played some historical, real life people and/or characters and really, I don't think a lot people really give him credit for that. You just hear people say he was Iceman, Jim Morrison, & Batman, no body else. Ah. The Ghost and the Darkness of 1996. Another true story. That's such a great one. My Grandma loved it and thought it was so interesting how those lions were. I'm not saying much at the moment other than this, Jerry Goldsmith's music was so wonderful and this was actually a remake from a movie from over 40 years prior  I'll do spotlights of them which was a plan of Mine for a while now. Val Kilmer was also part of another major remake in 1996 which was the Island of Dr. Moreau. In time I will get to them as well.

Ok, here's a teaser. next up from Me is the Top Gun from 1986

Oh and then Top Gun: Maverick from 2022 :o

The first one will be tomorrow :)

Saw Dr Moreau in the theater, don't recall caring for it. Still haven't seen TG Maverick.

Dr. Moreau, has some powerful messages in it. That's some Documentary that WWE is doing on Wrestlemania 9. Yeah, now since WM 41 is in Las Vegas there doing this now whne they hadly ever mention the misunderstood event  It should have been in 2023 for the 30th anniversary but it was a misopportunity there I mean they did it for SummerSlam that returned to Detroit for the SummerSlam 93 30th Anniversary. 93 was such a year and people really dis on it :batsmh: :wwsmh: :smsmh: It had so many usual things never seen in wrestling before. It was the start of hardcore wrestling & ECW, other wrestling feds crossed-over with each other and UFC debuted too. WMIX always get's a bad wrap. I was very excited for it especially after the 93 Royal Rumble is arguably the best one. It was so unique I mean they were outside Caesar's Palace for WM9 and there's never been one like it since. Plus this was the only time you saw Hulk Hogan & Giant Gonzalez together if you don't count Thunder in Paradise which also debuted that year. The WWF Hall of Fame started in 93 as well, there's so many other things not to mention other great stuff in WCW and in 93 in General like the movies, Star Wars making it's comeback and the debut of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Walker, Texas Ranger, The X-Files, I could go on. I'm still working of more content for My Yo, Do you Remember 93, I've just been busy but I'm trying to get it done before WM 41.

Okay, next up is the next feature of Val Kilmer which is 1986's Top Gun :!:

Image

The movie is directed by the late great Tony Scott & produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. This was one of their first collaborations together and predated Crimson Times by nearly a decade. In fact, a lot of those scenes in that movie resembled Top Gun the precursor :!: It kinda reminds of what Wolfenstein 3D is to Doom :o

Image

It has a huge cast :!:

Image

Tom Cruise is Maverick. For many people, this was the first movie they seen him. Not for Me, Mine was 1985's Legend which one day I do plan to a major spotlight

Image

Kelly McGillis is Charlie and is his love interest and the Top Gun instructor.

Image

Imagine having her as your teacher :batwink: :smgasp:

Image
Image
Image

Val Kilmer is Ice or Iceman. He's billed third and really, doesn't appear as much as he should because It focuses so much on Cruise.

Image

It's really a shame because his character is really the most interesting but most of the time with so many things, it's lie that a lot

Image

Anthony Edwards is Goose and has hair :!:

Image

This has a huge impact in the movie :o Also, it is the focus of the sequel too

Image

Meg Ryan plays his wife. Again, this plays into the sequel :!:

Image

Michael Ironside (Total Recall) & Tom Skerritt (Alien - Ridley Scott's film) plays Jester & Viper.

Image

Now, John Stockwell plays Cougar. Just a year prior, he was the star of My Science Project in 1985, arguably My all-time fave film. In Top Gun, he's only in the movie only minutes

Image

Tim Robbins has such a short part.

Image

Two decades later, he & Cruise would have a reunion in 2005's War of the Worlds. Look for a special spotlight of this from Me in the future :!:

Image

The late great Clarence Gilyard Jr. (Die Hard & Walker: Texas Ranger) is here too.

Image

Last but not least is James Tolkan. His role is very much like Gene Hackman in Crimson Tide :!:

Image

Here's the Trailer :!:

Top Gun is known for its songs & score. Here's Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins.

Here's Take My Breath Away by Berlin. This video shows you how cool the movie was not to mention the 80s in general.

The score was by Harlold Faltermayer (The Running Man & Tango & Cash), it's one of the good ones of the 80s :)

So, you never seen the sequel, well, I'm going to spotlight Top Gun Maverick next which ties into the great original nicely :)

Top Gun was pretty good. When Highway to the Danger Zone came out I remember taping it off the radio and listening to it incessantly as I rode my bike around my Grandma's neighborhood. That, the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and Shakedown from Bob Seger is what I remember most from that time. Of course, After Burner was a big deal at the arcade back then, too.
