I never seen Weekend in Havana. Now what I'm about to show you is the golden movie of Jean-Claude Van Damme, it was his first major movie...it came out in 1985 and it's called No Retreat, No Surrender, look at this poster, such a classic example of 80s fighters :!:

Image

While many of JCVD's movies have him fighting the big bad guy, this wasn't was the case....

Image

as this movie has the great feeling of fun 80s fighting but also goes paranormal. It follows Kurt McKinney who stars in the film as the main character who is a great Martial Artist. After his Father is beaten by thugs, he wants to train and get revenge. He's a major Brice Lee fan...

Image
Image

so what happens :?: Bruce Lee's ghost appears and helps him train :o Lee is played by the late great Tae-jeong Kim.

Image

Kim is also known as Bo Lung who played Bruce Lee's brother in The Game of Death II :!:

Image

So JCVD plays Ivan Kraschinsky the Russian, a type of role that he really only played once

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

they fight and it becomes the fight of the ages :!:

Image

Here's the trailer :)

Here's this good Cue by Paul Gilreath :)

Here's the great Music Video...be very alert at the very end, there's a great picture quote by Bruce Lee :!:

I never seen that one, either, but never really followed JCVD that much except in the mid-90s when we'd go to the movies almost every weekand films like Sudden Death came out. Speaking of hockey, just came across this show called Shoresy. It's in season 3 but we watched the first season today and laughed quite a bit. There was only six episodes and they're all a half hour or less. I guess it's a spinoff of a Canadian show called Letterkenny that I've heard of but never watched.

Well I thought that was something I mean putting Bruce Lee's ghost in a JCVD movie...think about that  I never knew about Shorsey, that looks different.

Here's this great Chuck Norris movie from 1980 called The Octagon :!:

Image

Norris was already about 40 years young here  It also stars Lee Van Cleef...like Norris, he was a military man and fighter and was the real deal as well.

The fine score was by Dick Halligan.

I can't really say I've seen too many Chuck Norris movies to be honest.

I never see The Phantom Tollboth, cool. Okay, here's another great Chuck Norris film from 1981 called An Eye for an Eye :!:

Image

It stars the late great Christopher Lee and late great wrestler Prof. Toru Tanaka as the villainous duo :o

Image

Also the late great actors Richard Roundtree & Mako as Norris' allies :!:

Image

As usual, good looking women is in Norris's films. In this is Rosalind Chao...

Image

and Maggie Cooper :batwink:

Image

Here's the trailer :D

Now this one has one of My all-time favorite themes by William Goldstein. Just not for a fighting film but films in general. Really this in the truly the musical embodiment of the 80s that shows you how darn cool fighting films are :D

That was a pretty good cast for that era. That one looks familiar, there's a chance my dad watched it at some point and I caught some of it.

I never seen the Hangover but I sure remember the hype and with Tyson too :) Okay, I wasn't going to post this till later but what the heck. In 2018 "Iron" Mike Tyson starred in a big Chinese movie based on a true story. STEVEN SEAGAL co-starred in it...it was was called the China Salesman

Image

This movie was a must see for Me. Here's "Iron" Mike :!:

Image

Here's an older, much bigger Seagal

Image

Here's the trailer :!:

Here's the really radical song that you just heard in the trailer, listen to Tyson

Now, I don't now how many people ever thought of Mike Tyson vs. Steven Seagal fighting each other is a dream match whether or not in their primes but hey, this happen and it's darn exciting and the very last couple of seconds is hilarious :batshock: :wwshock: :smgasp:

I never really got the hype for The Hangover either. The Mike Tyson scenes are funny, but I didn't really think it was that great overall. Seagal and Mike Tyson is a crazy combo and that looked pretty over the top in a good way.

I see. Yes, it was a unique combo. Soon I'm going to feature the Street Fighter movie that stars JCVD as this year marks it's 30th Anniversary of 1994. Before I do that I want to point something out. I know your really not familiar with the fantastic franchise. There is a character in the franchise named Balrog who is a boxer...he was based on Mike Tyson

Image

For years and years I thought how can a boxer really compete against a marital artist like Ryu :?:

Image
Image

Well, as you just saw in that film, it is possible  Yes, The China Salesman was over the top. If you have a chance to see it then do so PB :)

Okay, now moving on...I want to introduce another woman that was a legit fighter turned actress...she is Gina Carano , surely you know here from The Mandalorian before the debacle :)

Image

She really is something else

Image
Image

Here's a pic of one og her fights.

Image

She is really great looking too and I like her way more than Ronda Rousey but i would love a dream match between the two :batwink:

Image
Image

Her first big film Haywire was in 2011 with an all-star cast :wwwink:

Image

Here's the trailers

Here's this good Cue by David Holmes :)

More later ;)

I never heard of her before The Mandalorian but I thought she was really good in that. It's a shame Disney fired her over stupid nonsense. Disney deserves all the failures they've produced over their last few myopic years. I hope she wins her lawsuit against them and makes a bundle. Rangers of the Republic looked like it could've been promising but they let a bunch of keyboard warriors dictate direction. Funny how that works in Hollywood since Rachel Zegler is still employed by them. I hope that new Snow White trash is the biggest bomb for them ever and that would be an accomplishment for a company with Kathleen Kennedy a part of.
