Michigan seems to be a Dogman hotspot as well. Not sure why it seems to be up in a lot of those states. I think Bladenboro and Bray Road are similar really in name only. But both are strange, but honestly, stories of the Dogman are much more creepy IMO.

But enough about cats and dogs, let go to where everything is bigger!



Just outside Fort Worth, Texas sits Lake Worth at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge, where a satyr like creature is said to roam the waters of Lake Worth.



The first reported sighting of Goatman (aka the Lake Worth Monster) occurred on the night of July 9, 1969. The Star-Telegram reported that three “terrified” couples who had been parked near Greer Island told police they were “attacked by a thing they described as being half-man, half-goat and covered with fur and scales.”



The next night, witnesses at the lake again encountered Goatman, whose weight they estimated at 300 pounds. Jack E. Harris told a reporter he heard the creature “squall,” “howl” and “emit a pitiful cry like something was hurting him.” Then the creature, Harris said, “got hold of a spare tire with a rim in it and threw it at our cars. ... He threw it more than 500 feet.” During the summer of ‘69 people drove to Lake Worth every night to look for Goatman. Fort Worth police even stationed an officer to direct traffic.



Newspapers also published a photograph purportedly taken of the creature by Allen Plaster, and locals began driving out to the lake at night to get a look at it. In a later interview, Allen Plaster commented on the photo, described as a man-sized "white furball", that he took while driving past the Nature Center in 1969. He said he believed that the sighting was a prank, stating “whatever it was, it wanted to be seen". Since reports of the monster ceased when school resumed, many suspected the incidents were pranks carried out by high school students.



Some folks said the creature was a really big bobcat. Or an ape that had been burned in a circus fire. Other folks whispered that students from Castleberry, North Side or Brewer high school were the hoaxers. Fort Worth police investigator Dale Hinz had another theory. Located near Greer Island was the New Liberty Mission Rehabilitation Center for men who abused alcohol. The center was known as the “Goat Farm” because its residents raised goats for consumption by animals at the zoo. One of the residents of the center, Hinz said, was Foots Fowler. “Foots,” Hinz said, “was strange looking, well over six feet tall with arms that hung down past his knee, a very narrow head and extremely large feet. Because of his abnormally large feet he picked up the moniker ‘Foots.’” Hinz said Foots told other residents of the center how he would sneak off at night, covered with goat skins, and prowl Lake Worth’s parks, scaring people parked in cars.



Since then there haven't been many reports of the Lake Worth Monster, but who knows what was going on. Maybe Bryan Adams knows? Weirdly enough, Bryan Adams would've been 10 back in the summer of '69, so maybe he wasn't singing about a year. You dirty boy, Bryan!

I don't know, is all I know is that Dogman is reaching the Midwest too Gosh, I'm not really familiar with that Goatman and/or Lake Worth Monster. That news report was great, that adds so much more to this Good Entry Packer

“The Western Door” is a nickname for Seneca territory, in Western New York sits about 45 minutes west of Buffalo. It's about a 25 minute drive from that I often go to, a couple times a month, because the gasoline on the territory doesn't include state and county taxes so it can often run anywhere from $.30 to almost $1.00 cheaper per gallon, so it's often worth the drive.



A marsh-dweller, High Hat is not to be confused with the shadowy Hat Man. High Hat was a giant cannibal with a mouth full of sharp teeth and a fondness for the flesh of children. The Seneca call him “High Hat” because in some reports he’s wearing a stovepipe chapeau and reminded people of President Abraham Lincoln. They may not be the only ones who see him. The 1960-65 creation of the Kinzua Reservoir brought a lot of non-Natives to Reservation territory, day after day. More than one white dam worker spotted a big strange form along the northern shore, typically just before daybreak. The whites didn’t know the legends, of course. But the crews got so used to seeing him that they came to look for him. “Anybody see old Abe Lincoln today?” they used to ask each other.



Some believe High Hat is connected to reports of Big Foot throughout all of New York while others see a connect to the Dark Watchers of California. There are similarities between all three.

Today's monster is The Deerman...possibly a Wendigo

I've heard of wendigo that look like deer. In the recent movie Antlers was about a wendigo with, well, antlers. I saw a bit of it but never watched the whole thing.

For today's Monster of the Day we're going to head south of Buffalo and cross the border into Pennsylvania.



In Columbia, Pennsylvania. folks speak of a creature called an Albatwitch. The Albatwitch is a small, manlike creature that lives primarily in wooded areas near Chickies Rock, along the banks of the Susquehanna River about a mile or two north of town.



Whatever these creatures are, they are not simply juvenile bigfoot - for they are never seen in conjunction with adult bigfoot. Albatwitch proportions are different as well - they are reported as thinner creatures, with arms and legs proportionately like humans; and with round heads that sit atop their shoulders (bigfoot are often reported as having “no neck” or a head that protrudes from the shoulders as opposed to sitting atop their shoulders like humans).



The albatwitches are said to live mostly in the trees. Preferring to keep to the shadows, they made their presence known by a sound like a cracking whip (perhaps this is aggressive branch-breaking, a well known bigfoot trait?). Picnickers at Chickies Rock have reported their apples stolen and sometimes even thrown back at them.



Chickies Rock, where the creatures supposedly lived, does have a tradition of strange sights and sounds - in the 1950s and 1970s, a manlike figure was seen several times, and local legends also speak of sounds like the crack of a whip heard in the woods at night. One can only wonder if these could be connected with the Albatwitch. Whether these stories are connected or not, several sightings of Bigfoot-types have been recorded from this area. A vague report concerning the sighting of a hairy humanoid came from Lancaster in 1973. Lancaster is a scant 10 miles east of Columbia. Another came from the town of North Annville (about 20 miles to the north) in the same year. In addition, a number of reports have surfaced out of neighboring York County.



Also, some sources say that the Susquehannocks, like many Indian tribes, had a belief in an apelike monster, and sometimes depicted it on their war-shields. The Susquehannocks were a local tribe - coincidentally, major evidences of their civilization (ruins of a village and burial grounds) were found at the base of Chickies Rock.



Sadly, October 5th has already passed as it is Albatwitch Day in Columbia when they have their annual Albatwitch Festival one Saturday every October.



Whatever these creatures are they are said to love apples, often stealing them from people and even throwing them at unsuspecting victims. But I suppose it's better to have regular apples tossed at you than road apples.

First time I heard of Wendigo was from Wolverine comics. One of those stories that seem to be a part of multiple cultures so it really makes you wonder.

Today's Monster of the Day are tiny terrors sure to make you think twice before going into the water.



Our story takes place at Pyramid Lake in Nevada where every Spring it seems one unfortunate fishermen disappears on the lake. Some say it's just a sad coincidence, while others blame the Water Babies.



What are the Water Babies? Since no one has ever lived to tell the tale it all depends upon whom you ask. It’s been established that before the white man arrived at Pyramid Lake, members of the Paiute tribe threw ill-formed or premature babies into the water. The tribe felt this a necessity to keep the tribe strong in the harsh desert environment. According to this first version of the legend, the angry spirits of these cast-off infants took hold of the lake over the centuries. Now, nearly every spring, they take revenge upon unlucky fishermen.



Water Babies are mysterious and dangerous spirits. These spirits are said to mimic the sounds of crying babies to lure in victims. Some versions of the legend suggest that malformed or premature infants were cast into the waters, while another version tells of a curse placed on the lake by a rejected mermaid. The story goes a Paiute boy met and fell in love with a mermaid-like creature while visiting the ocean. He was determined to marry her and brought her home to Pyramid Lake to meet his tribe members, but they insisted he take her back to the ocean. Before they left, the rejected creature put a curse on the water. Shortly afterward, two sisters were washing clothes in the river. One sister had a small infant whom she left in the shade of a large tree while she did her chores. Unnoticed by the adults, a serpent emerged from the river, eating the child and taking on its form. When the mother went to feed her child, the demonic infant began to devour the young mother. When the sister and other tribe members couldn’t make the baby release its grip, they called for a Medicine Man. A fateful deal was made: the demon would be free to inhabit the lake if the young mother was restored to health.



Baffled by paranormal presence looming over Pyramid Lake, people have reported hearing the dejected cries of an invisible baby, or the laughter of phantom children. Pyramid Lake natives say that the noises are bad omens. “If you hear it, it’s bad news; if you see it, you’re dead!”



Whatever they are, you won't see my going into these waters, baby.
