My 1/6 - 12" Figure Collection - RESIDENT EVIL!!!

Postby BrandonDaCollector » Sat Oct 02, 2021 10:45 am

So, along time a got when I joined the board, I showcased many of My 12" or 1/6 scale figures. They got lost in the shuffle sadly but now I am going to represent them + many, many more soon that you never seen from Me before!

First off, I'm just not a regular action figure collector from scales like 3" to 8", I also love 12" figures as well. I love the articulation and the ultra realism via the clothing & the sculpting. IMO they are true action figures. I have posted on a couple of 1/6 scale figures boards and still do on 1 from time to time with these types of figs as well as regular ones but them people are really flaky on posting when & what they want on especially I created lots of great stuff seen on the DC board and they guys that begged Me to come back very early on in the year and hardly posts on anything any do so especially wrestling which is supposed to be this big wrestling fan so the situation just sucks there.

Anyway, I have been a 12" figure collector since 2001 so this is My 20th Anniversary I saw so many from Palisades Reservoir Dogs to Sideshow soon to be released Universal Monsters on the web. Sure, I got some 12" Joes in the early 90s but it didn't hit Me then till I saw Sideshow's figures. You can see all of My Universal Monsters in an upcoming showcase! I just fell in love with these type of figures and still love 12" figures of all kinds to this day hence My signature for that other board!

Image

Please allow Me a brief run down memory lane. Long ago when I was about 7, I got a Barbie which I don't know which one she was but I remember she had jeans and maybe a jean jacket. I liked her and keep in Mind I was collecting lines like MOTU, TMNT, G.I. Joe 3", Ghostbusters and the like so it was unusual for Me to want and get a figure like that. She was My only one I ever got really I really just didn't consider her a girl's toy at the time but found that she was really fun thus she became My first 11" figure of that kind. So, fast forward about twenty years later I started kit-bashing 1/6 figures, male & female figures from various 1/6 companies (which you can see throughout the board). With that being said I believe having that Barbie all those years prior helped Me because that fun was still in Me and I really digged making 1/6 female as they just ain't fun to look at but they are fun to dress and especially display. So I believe this to be My origins to all of My 1/6-12" figure collecting over the past 20 years.

Yeah, I made a lot of Kit-bashed 12" figures that I'll get into a second topic so look for that sometime in the near future!

OK, so this is gonna be a mixed-up one and won't be chronological order as when I got them and so forth.
My 2 favorite companies that make 12" figures is Sideshow & Hot Toys. Back in the of the early to later part of the 2000s Sideshow's was kinda cheap in price but Hot Toys was always more expensive but now both are insanely ridicules in this deplorable androgynous day & age where Sideshow has joined many companies in creatively, making licenses that have been done dozens of times with no originality...I mean how times does Batman or Iron-Man been made how many businesses must make Disney or Star Wars...I'm sick of it...back when I was collecting them in 2000s Sideshow, McFarlane & NECA were making things that was never done before...now its extremely pathetic and especially when you can get a lot the older/vintage stuff that is arguably better IMO for much better prices instead of these insane costs that is on the first, second & third marketplaces as I speak this very moment!

So with My rant over, like I said, these figures have such great sculpting and I love their display stands as well. So here is what I got in store in this great 12"-1/6 scale showcase first!

Green Berets John Wayne by Sideshow whom My Grandma surprised Me with him for Christmas back in the 2000s!

Image
Image

John Rambo from First blood by Hot Toys...he was My first ever Hot Toys figure!

Image
Image

Sgt. R. Lee Ermey: Got him for FREE from Sideshow (more on that in a sec)!

Image

Bruce Lee by Hot Toys. Got him for FREE from Sideshow along with the previously seen Sgt R. Lee Ermey via My rewards from the used to be great Sideshow store...only had to pay their really high shipping and this was in the early 2010s when they were changing and becoming generic hence the ads that I got with them

Image
Image
Image
Image

My name is Bruce by Dark Horse! they used the old Sideshow body!

Image
Image
Image

Art S. Buck by Sideshow! Got these for free like the other ones...I love these guys and I later on I may show them in My kit-bash topic whenever the time comes as I have wrote stories for them like I do all of My custom characters! The physiques are nice and the female has good shaped boobs & booty. They are basically the same bodies that most 12" Sideshow used. Their fun to move as they are naked without restrictions but I do not prefer them that way.

Well well, here we go on a long time coming. It was 2001, that year I first became a 12" - 1/6 collector...this marks My 20th year Anniversary! Long story short, I was looking on the web and saw there was like this big bang of 12" activity from companies and I was hooked. I mean from collecting smaller figures from Wrestling figures, TMNT, X-Men to Movie Maniacs it was a big jump for Me not only size & price but also display. I mean The figures are very realistic with tons of articulation and real clothing!.

When I first saw The Reservoir Dogs figures at various web stores I was like, oh wow, their really cool. So I was thinking about getting them. I hadn't seen the movie before. If your not familiar with this classic, it's a fantastic crime thriller that is very gritty & has violent action by Quinton Tarantino. CLICK HERE to the wiki page to know about it! I wanted the figures but I had to see the movie first, I rented it at Hollywood Video when video rental places still existed (I miss those days, Red Box and Netflix screwed all of the good times up with all of this digital stuff and today's young generation doesn't know the half of it) So, I watched movie and I got the figures, THE WHOLE COLLECTION! So who are these figures made by? They are made by PALISADES! These were such an up and coming company with many terrific lines such as their great Muppets, 12" Final Fantasy movie figures (I never did collect The Muppets nor FF) and awesome Resident Evil figures (I have the whole collection of Palisades' RE so stay tuned for that). They were competing against the likes of McFarlane & NECA and due to that, constant quality issues among financial debacles, they went out of business in around 2006.

I got all of these guys from a really good web store in Texas that had great selections, prices & CS. Their name escapes Me at the moment but sadly they are no longer in business for over a decade unfortunately  These guys were only about $35 a pop  That was a great deal back then and if you look at today's insane market's prices, it's utterly pathetic how it is now. I miss the old days, I truly, truly do

So here we go with the 12" Reservoir Dogs figures. The head sculpts are superb. They were sculpted by SOTA which was Jerry Macaluso's great company (I knew him when I was a customer when he first started SOTA but more on that at a later date  ) and Plan B Toys also provided support for the line as well. I loved the likenesses, this is during when realistic sculpts started appearing more and more which really IMO it was a mystery of how quickthis upbringing horizon wasn't really seen in the 90s. I mean there was some great sculpts in the 80s especially the 90s but IMO the only sculpts that come as real as these were Playmates' Star Trek & McFarlane's X-Files & Movie Maniacs. The newer tech was being altered & upgraded by such sculptors like Mcfarlane's Four Horsemen whom would later do excellent work for NECA & Mattel of all companies. I don't know how many people noticed this then like I did but I still really find this to be rather odd how it all got better all of a sudden  The clothing is great and so is the many accessories. The quality is great but the bodies are kinda loose and I don't dare change the alternate heads. I misplaced the great artwork packaging though. Now later on there will BE A GRAPHIC SCENE!!!!! IF YOU KNOW RESERVOIR DOGS THEN YOU'LL KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT AND MIGHT BE SURPRISED THAT PALISADES ACTUALLY MADE THIS A DISPLAY OPTION!

OK, here we go!

Mr. Blonde: Played by great villain actor Michael Madsen. He uses a taller body since the actor is the tallest of the whole group @ 6 foot 4!

Image
Image

Mr. White: Played by the talented Harvey Keitel, look at that great likeness!

Image
Image

Mr Orange: Played by good Tim Roth, another tremendous likeness!

Image
Image

Mr. Pink: Played by funny Steve Buscemi, yet another good likeness!

Image

Mr. Brown: Yep, its's Quinton Tarantino, the director of the movie!

Image

"Nice Guy" Eddie Cabot: This figure was a ToyFair exclusive :!: Played by the late great Chris Penn, good likeness and I love the big, more chubbier body to fit the character and I love that jacket & denim. He is the son of Joe Cabot.

Image
Image

Joe Cabot: Played by late great actor Lawrence Tierney. Like his son Eddie, he uses the chubby body. I love his clothing and he has a great likeness which arguably the best one. I believe this the first and one of the few if not the only official figure of Lawrence Tierney!

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Joe Cabot is the rarest figure & hardest to find of them all! I mean most of the other figures are still readily available on eBay and second & third marketplaces and while some are still at decent prices but if you are mostly a completist like Me then not able to find Joe, this can be a is big major prob

Image
Image

Marvin Nash: Wow, Palisades knocked it outta the park with him, the head sculpt is marvelous and I love his utility belt!

SUPER SPECIAL GALLERY!

The Boxes/packing! These pics are not Mine --- I just edited them together to show how great they were. Look at the art, the 5th panel and all the rest! These were still the days when you bought action figures with great packaging for cheap prices and you DIDN'T FEEL LIKE YOUR BUYING THE PACKING ONLY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD :!: :!: :!: :o :o :o

Image
Image

Palisades Comparison: Here is Palisades' other great figures I got around the same time in 2001/2002 and believe Me it was a very good time for action figures! That's Mr. White along with The Tyrant, Albert Wesker and the Zombie Cop!

Image

Sideshow Comparison: So after My discovery of 12" figures I got a lot of great ones when Sideshow was a great & original company in the 2000s and not this follow suit with the rest of'em generic disappointing business , believe Me when I say it, it makes Me really so freakin' :x about these companies now  So here is Mr. Orange with Highlander's Connor MacLeod & Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees!

Image
Image

ALTERNATE REALITY! WHAT THE HECK  Tim Roth meets his alter ego, General Thade from 2001's Planet of the Apes, one of My all-time favorite movies! I find it strange and quite weird that Palisades made a Roth character and so did Hasbro at the same time in 2001 and nearly 10 years after Reservoir Dogs came out in 1992

Image

THE CONCLUSION!

Image

So there you have it, that is My entire collection of 12" Reservoir Dogs by Palisades! I do not have any by the other companies, I just wanted these then and that was that. So I hope you enjoyed all of My hard work to showcase to you. Comments about My pics & commentary or even questions please :) Much more 12" figures greatness coming soon

All of the love for "Gray" Matters! I pretend they are aliens and whenever I get to My "retooled" kitbash topic of figures. This how they are in My Area 51 fan fiction stories as they will be joined by some friends along the way :o

Lots more 12" figure goodness coming up soon

Impressive. I could never get in to the 12 inch figures as I always thought the soft good clothes almost always never looked right. It's gotten better in recent years.

Thanks guys, 12" figures are very fun especially if you kit-bash them which like I said I am gonna make a topic just for that one cause there's a lot that I made :o

You better believe they look great, IMO they have some of the greatest sculpts ever! Thing is, they cost so much now compared to yesteryear's when I was collecting them faithfully which today's insane prices really ruins the excitement when it comes to that certain aspect especially for novice collectors

More to come soon!

Now these guys were already posted in their own specific & respected topic, if you hadn't seen them yet them good, you'll see them now, however, I thought it was necessary to enter them here as are some of the unique 12" figures ever created and some of My favorites!

-------------------------------------------------

Back in 2005, Lanard released a very unique 1:6 series called the K9 Corps! Large figures that most shared parts but were original and quite decent sculpts. The purpose was to have a totally different concept and to get youngsters into 1:6 collecting, whether that happen is not known but fans and collectors alike such as I will remember the fun time collecting these anthropomorphic canines! I got the two deluxe figures Taurus and Davis @ K-Mart locally and the rest @ K-B Toys.com (when they were still around, I remember that box they came in, it was huge!) and I got the bonus Lanard guy @ My local Walgreens. I am very thankful that I have the entire set as I have them all except the vehicle that was a tank with the same figure of Magnum that I was not interested in. Here is some pics of ALL of the characters in the series!
