Paint removall inquiry

HIVEMIND: While scheming one of my future customizing endeavors a question was posed by me and wondered if someone out there might have some answers.

That question:

What is the best way to remove paint from a figure? I'm going to need to remove fleshy colored paint from a neck to get to the color underneath all without damaging the figure.

For removing factory paint I've used clear nail polish and "Winsor & Newton Brush Cleaner & Restorer".
