Awesome setup, PB! I love when people really make their house an experience on Halloween. We used to have a house like that in my neighborhood when I was a kid, and actually getting to the door to get candy was a badge of honor.
My girlfriend and I went to Boston to see Jeffrey Combs (Dr. Herbert West in Re-Animator; The Question on JLU) play Edgar Allan Poe in the one-man show Nevermore. Wonderful performance; if you get a chance, check out the Masters of Horror episode "The Black Cat," where he also plays Poe. He channels Poe wonderfully, with fervor and humor and insight.
Afterward, we watched The Witches (1990; based on the Roald Dahl book), which is a remarkably freaky film for a kids' movie. Great Henson Shop effects and makeup, really awesome cast (including Jane Horrocks, who I adore). Cool flick.
Here's the list of the 31 horror flicks I watched for the first time in October...
