Marvel Select

Well, got my Black Cat figure (Marvel Select) today. I knew she wouldn't have great articulation, but even still I am kind of surprised with how limited it is. She looks cool though and she has a lot of cool bonus stuff. The set is really kind of strange to me. It almost seems like a great part of the appeal for a potential toy enthusiast should be the accessories like the safe, stacks of money, the floor base, and the window (with attachable Spiderman) and not so much the Black Cat herself.

Before I got into DC Classics, I collected Legends and Select. I think Select has Legends beat on looks/sculpts/accessories but it is definitely lacking in articulation. I like DC Classic's uniformity over DC Direct and believe it is the superior product but that's just me. I guess DC Direct or Collectibles as it is called now is kind of like Select in that it's bigger with more styled sculpts and sometimes comes with some extras. I have the Black Cat you speak of. I think also because of who she is, one would expect more articulation points even with a Select figure and also the accessories are so great that it does take away some of her flash but she looks gorgeous that is for sure.

I snagged The Mighty Thor from Marvel Select last week and even though I don't have a lot of select figs, this is one of the coolest figures I've seen come out of their shops.

The paints are great, the sculpting was even better and the fact that he has a hammer, and extra helmet-less head, an extra special hand for the awesomest action accessory or " Actionessory" (you heard it here first) of the spinning effect Mjolnir didn't hurt either!

If you haven't bought this yet, do it; you won't be disappointed (and this is coming from a die-hard DC Comics guy) hope MS runs with this idea again and I hope DCC and others copy this concept.

Yeah, the spinning hammer accessory is a BRILLIANT idea that I'm surprised hasn't been done before for Thor.

If Mattel ever did that it would be a $50 figure. 12 weapons? The tooling budget would be busted.
