Custom Cast Swap Meet?

So me and HectorHall have been discussing castings since I recently started doing it myself, and he might as well. And it got me thinking maybe we should have a list of casters and which molds we've made. Just thinking if I have a mold for a certain head, and someone else has a different mold I might need, it might be cheaper to just swap a casted head then to make another mold yourself? Would also maybe lead to non-casters to trade for something as well. What does everyone think about the idea?

I would think the best way to do this without filling up pages of posts would be for each person to just have one post where they list what molds they have made. And then when they add a new one could put it in bold letters or something.

I don't know, thoughts? This is just kind of the spitball thread for it, if people are interested we can start another thread just for the lists.

I haven't made any molds (not to mention even tried) but am all for this; id trade/buy molds for certain items I may need

I think it is a great idea, if I may ask... what does it cost on average to make a casted head?

Not sure, but most cast sites tend to charge $4-$5 per head so I guess that would be reasonable. I'm just thinking as a caster, you can cast a lot more heads with supplies then make molds, and if you only need one head it might be cheaper to trade with someone who may've already molded that head then it would be to make a mold and cast the head yourself.

Of course, we're all at different levels of experience and may be using different qualities of materials, so I guess that would be a hiccup. But it might be something to at least explore. Certainly if someone wanted to buy a head cast from someone who had it listed, why not? Especially if they have a cast of a head from a figure that might be pricey itself. A Cassandra Batgirl would run you north of $50 if you're lucky, but she isn't really much different from the other Batgirls. You might be better off just paying a few dollars for a head and making her yourself .

I am totally down for this. I would not be starting until after April, but after getting a handful of heads via PB, I can tell you that it would be a great benefit to all of us.
