Brenda Starr, wow I haven't heard that name in a loooong time. She used to be in the comics in the newspapers back in the 80's I think

Brenda Starr, wow I haven't heard that name in a loooong time. She used to be in the comics in the newspapers back in the 80's I think

Brenda Starr got started in 1940 and ended in 2011 with Dale Messick and later Ramona Fradon were the two focal points of her existence. Mary Schmich and couple other people closed her out. In 2011, this strip/comic been in limbo ever since and Brenda Starr was modeled after Rita Hayworth by Dale.

It was this photograph of Rita in that sexy red nightgown got Dale her inspiration of Brenda Starr ... and Brenda was a strong comic strip from 1940 to 1970 ... until she gradually lost it' edge starting in 1990 and on.
