My Christmas & B-Day haul!

Postby BrandonDaCollector » Fri Jan 29, 2021 7:37 pm

Well, first off since My return I thought that it would be apropos to show off what I got for My Christmas & B-Day. Long story short, for many months I have been seriously thinking about My older and especially vintage lines that I never completed. More on this sometime later.

So, a long time ago My Mom got Me the Aliens & Predator series' by Kenner in the 90s. I am a huge AvP fan. For the past year or so I have been thinking about this and also kicking Myself in the @$$ for not doing this years prior  So I sold My ML/SMC Spider-Hulk and got them and I found Myself way more satisfied that I did before 8)

NOTE: I did not take these pics, these are pics taken by the eBay sellers that I bought them from.

CHRISTMAS

Arachnid Alien: Got him loose, he is great shape. He was originally in a 2 pack with a repainted Drake that I wasn't interested in and saved Me a lot of dough.

Image

The Panther Alien: One of the very few that I needed to complete My collection. Got him loose as well.

Image

The King Alien: One of the ones that I wanted the most of all. Never could get this great character. I could have got him in a two pack but I didn't want the repainted Hicks, besides I loved the green & black color scheme way more!

Image

Image

The Lava Planet Predator: Another one that I missed getting and wow is he awesome!

Image

Image

The Nightstorm Predator: Yet another one and he too is also really good!

Image

Image

The WWF No Holds Barred magazine/program: As you know I am a huge wrestling fan (more to come later on that subject!). I loved the movie No Holds Barred, (R.I.P. Zues :( IMO it is the best wrestling movie ever and when I little I asked My Grandma to get the book back in the day, she couldn't get it anywhere and it was sold out in the WWF warehouse/store back then. Well, fast forward over 30 years later she got it for Me on eBay and I am so happy about that!

My Birthday!

So, I sold a big lot of Marvel Legends so I could complete My Congo: The Movie collection! I got all of these brand new-NOC. I am so happy with these guys!

(I took these pics)

I already have The Mangler. My Grandma got Me him on clearance back in 96 at Target when the shelves were basically empty and like the figs above I had been thinking about Congo as well that I never completed it!

Image

Here is Amy, Peter, Karen, Monroe and Kahega!

Image

Here is deluxe Monroe with Zinj Monkey, deluxe Bonecrusher with Zinj Monkey and Blastface! I am pretending that deluxe Monroe is Mike Harrigan from Predator 2 since he has a hat!

Image

Back of the cards, notice the differences.

Image

The special promo Congo Ape. I actually didn't know about him till very recently. He is a repaint of Blastface, I have named him The Guardian of Zinj Gorilla.

Image

So there it is. I find these figures a lot cooler and refreshing than many of the figures of the 2000s & 2010s thus is one of the reasons why I sold off My MLs. Don't get Me wrong, the recent figures are great but I love the older figures' simplicity with limited joints. I know I could have gotten NECA's Kenner tribute figures of the AVPs but I thought maybe later but I really wanted "THE ORIGIANLS". Also, I tend to like and get what others don't hence My love for Congo. The year 95 and the movie itself was great and the figs are titled from the movie but really I believe they were in fact based from the novel and people at the time and even as I speak don't see that aspect of it as a whole which really to Me is just really cool! All in all I just love the old figures from the 90s!

Well that's it for now, I may showcase these guys at a latter date and more! I hope you have enjoyed this topic and that I am back! Till next time, see you around 8)

I love that you kept the stickers on those carded Aliens figs. That's history there. I got a few of these back in the day loose at garage sales. How many of these guys do you have? I honestly did not know at the time they were from a cross over line.

Indeed Tango X, I know about the history! Some people don't like it when there is still price tags on vintage figs but I beg the differ and it just reminds Me back in the day when the REAL TOY HUNT was abound when K-B Toys was in business. I did open them up however, usually I am not a MOCer. Oh heck yeah, they were a major cross over line, many series' (they made a lot of stuff, original lines that were so cool) Kenner made were in scale with one-another. It was so fun and awesome back then and that is one of the reasons why I said I was kicking Myself in the @$$ for not appreciating it more. Another thing, those great Congo figures can also cross over with AvP too  Oh, I got most of the AvPs when they were hot, I don't have the Predator and Congo vehicles, I am only missing a couple Aliens that is on the card and a few that is not on the card. Maybe I will I feature these and on more a special commentary topic about Kenner as a whole later on down the road.

See you around

I think those Congo figure designs look awesome. Really love the paintjobs and how colorful all those Simians look.

Definitely a neat piece of memorabilia that I would have loved to have, especially as a kid!
