MONSTERVERSE+: POSEIDON REX!!!

Before I begin the main focus on this post, notice the title of the Topic as I put a + by it. This means that I will be entering other newer films that has and has nothing to do with Legendary & WB which you'll be surprised about what I have in store for the future. I want point out yet another inspiration that WB & Legendary did. The pose of Kong in the iconic Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire...



was actually inspired by Blizzard in the awesome 1994 Primal Rage Video Game which you can see My Collection in My Video Game Collection Topic



So this year marks the 10th Anniversary of the MonsterVerse. Here's some great size comparison & info charts to admire of many of the Titan

Honestly, when the franchise first began, I didn't now where it was heading or if it would even last. With people's dearth of interest with other movies such as Universal's Dark Universe, I was very afraid this wouldn't last at all but I was very wrong and I'm glad I was because the MonsterVerse is fantastic and is here to stay. I really hope there's youngsters out there as excited about these movies as I was about the originals when I was a kid because there's nothing like being a fan of monsters. I will be posting more here in time

Before I begin this, if you haven't already which there's been plenty of time for you to do (I can't tell with no replies), check out the awesome stuff I posted by in December especially the Metallica one and that one that guy talks about his Father.

So, here's My first entry of My MonsterVerse+ Topic of various movies that has huge monsters, Kaijus, Titans and the like. Like I said, you can talk about monsters & Kaiju movies here that was made after 2006. I say that because I feel that's when the era of classic monster movies ended particularly with Gamera the Brave. This movie came out in the tone down year of 2011. It was originally on the Sci-Fi Channel part of the Man Eater Series and it was called Behemoth




It' about a huge, subterranean creature that causes distastes all over the globe and should make one think of a real possibility. While the look of the creature is kinda like Biolantte in a way, the overall design of the monster is rather unique to say the least



I love that it's based on myths & legends.

I like the young couple in it. They've known each other since grade school and getting ready to be married. I loved that true love aspect



Garry Chalk. I find it strange that he was in 2014's Godzilla that is part of the MonsterVerse and that there is a Titan in the franchise that is named Behemoth




William B. Davis. Yes, The X-Files' Cigarette Smoking Man I was surprised that he had a big part in this as a good guy. the town though he was a crazy old man but he's as more coherent as the young people are. They'll find out that this man knew that the Behemoth was coming

I never heard of this movie or the actors to be honest. I usually don't pay much attention to what I would consider the lower budget monster movies like these because the special fx tend to be less impressive and it just doesn't do much for me in that case. The Sharknado films might be the only exception as they were so intentionally over the top bad that it was more of a romp and not to be taken series. I'm not saying the effects are awful in the trailer, but I can kind of see they aren't the best either. In the end, I just don't watch movies like I used to so it's a very small selection of films that might actually draw my attention these days.

I didn't think you did. Dang, surely you know The Cigarette Smoking Man from The X-Files




He was the star power of the film for Me. Again, I find the Garry Chalk & Behemoth issue to be quite strange The special effects & budget in any kind of movie is really never an issue with Me as long as the story is good and the film is exciting, I'm not that picky about stuff. I got more to come, some surprises are on the way too

So, I just finished off a big 4-Part spotlight of The Poseidon Adventure movies over in PB's Movie Trailer Topic. Well, I'm not done completely however because in 2013 they made a monster movie for SyFy called Poseidon Rex



That Poster above was really an early concept and the creature looks nothing like that in the actual movie. Here's later & more accurate ones.






Here's this Poster from Japan



The story goes as this. Pirate mercenaries blow up a section of the ocean floor in the Caribbean where they think treasure is. Once they do so, they unearth & awaken a new species of aquatic Theropod Dinosaur with an excellent design








The movie's two main characters is Brian Krause & the late great Anne McDaniels. McDaniels is the one that names this Poseidon Rex as they discover younglings The name means King of the Ocean which is very clever




There is many chase scenes here. The creature is about 50 feet tall and about 80 feet long, it's at least the size of a Spinosaurus

Now, here's this small tribute to Anne McDaniels. She passed away in 2024 She was very good in the movie.



She was quite unique & very sweet.



She easily could have been a wowing babe on Baywatch with her fine physique & good sized boobs.

SUPER BONUS

In real life, there was a major discovery of bone beds and fossilized trackways found in the U.S. States of Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Texas in 1994. over 30 years ago now. This new Sauropod specie closely related to Brachiosaurus is named Sauroposeidon meaning "Lizard earthquake god"

That's a good concept there but they went with the "size" instead because Poseidon is a god It was a sad day when I learned that Anne McDaniels died. She died way too young
